Barrie bail program

Bail Programs Simcoe County and District of Muskoka
Bail Verification and Supervision Program:
The Bail Verification and Supervision Program serves two principles upon which the democratic justice system is based: The presumption of innocence before conviction; and the fair equitable treatment of all people regardless of social and economic background. The Bail Program puts these principles into practice on behalf of people accused of criminal offences.
What is Verification?
Verification is the confirmation of the accused person’s community ties, and when necessary, the provision of appropriate community options in order to satisfy the requirements on release under the Bail Reform Act.
How can I be part of this program?
Referral to the program comes from lawyers, Duty Council, the Crown, family members, institutions and individuals.
Pre-Trial Supervision (for ages 16 and up):
Provides guidance, referrals to community services as well as Anger Management, Anti-Theft and Alcohol, Drug Awareness programs, and a Specialized Bail Bed Program for higher-needs individuals.
